Leaders of various parties today stressed on reviving strained relations with India through diplomatic means.At an interaction programme held in view of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s preparations for a state visit to India, speakers said it was high time the government resumed the stalled dialogue process for substantive outcome.

Nepal Sadbhawana Party leader Laxman Lal Karna accused the major parties of promulgating the new constitution unilaterally.He also accused the three major parties of trying to disrupt negotiations by suppressing peaceful demonstrations in Itahari, Birgunj and Biratnagar, among other places.

Leader Karna accused the government of promoting black-marketing although all transit routes with India, except Birgunj trade point, had become fully operational.He also said that they were preparing to form a grand alliance of agitating forces as the government had failed to heed their demands.

Nepali Congress leader Narayan Khadka said the PM’s visit to India would help mend stained relations between the two countries. He said formation of two Madhes provinces in the Tarai was not feasible.He also accused the government of failing to play an effective role to check black-marketing and corruption.

CPN-UML leader Pradeep Gyawali said the cordial relations between Tarai, hill and mountain people should not be broken over the issue of delineation of the provincial boundaries and urged the Madhes-centric parties to act more responsibly and seek a solution through negotiations.

He also said that the government should revive Nepal-India relations, which had soured after promulgation of the new constitution.Unified CPN-Maoist leader Janardhan Sharma called for resumption of negotiations with the agitating parties keeping in view the interest of the country and people.He also stressed on launching programmes for economic development and expediting post-q
