Japanese comedy is not always the easiest thing to digest from a western take on entertainment. However there are some comedians that go beyond the realm of even Japanese understanding as over the top performers. Self-named Egashira 2:50 aka Ega-chan (real name Hideharu Egashira), has been declared as the most annoying comedian in Japan because of his in-your-face, shock comedy that challenges the resolve of even the most veteran AKB48 members.Usually guised in nothing more than an ill-fitting pair of black tights, he is often called onto shows and released like a caged baboon onto unsuspecting guests. His sporadic movements and spit ladened harsh speech are more than enough to set the audience off in an awkward, if not terrified state of laughter. However, contrary to his on-stage character, it has been mentioned by a variety of TV hosts and talents that his politeness and formality off the set is the reason for his raising popularity.
