A plan to bring as many as 1 million Bihar citizens in a bid to intensify the ongoing Madhes agitation has reportedly been agreed between the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) and Indian leaders.

After the participation of people gradually dwindled in the five-month long strike, the leaders of UDMF had visited Bihar to garner support for their ongoing border-centric protests.

Earlier, Media for Border Harmony and India-Nepal Friendship Association had handed over the invitation to the UDMF for the visit of Bihar.

Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, Vice-Chairman of Rastriya Janata Dal, informed that the citizens of Bihar would participate in the UDMF agitation to “defy the domination of the government toward the Madhesi people.”

Speaking in a press conference organised by Media for Border Harmony in Muzaffarpur of Bihar on Sunday, he stated that citizens of Bihar were also ready to stage a sit-in protest in Kathmandu as well as in New Delhi for the rights of the Madhesi people.

After the completion of the programme in Muzaffarpur, the chairs of all UDMF constituents headed to Patna to seek further support from the Indian leaders.

Meanwhile, it is expected that the UDMF would hold a meeting after its leaders returned from Bihar to review the protests.

Federal Socialist Forum Nepal Chairman Upendra Yadav, Sadbhawana Party Chairman Rajendra Mahato, Tarai-Madhes Sadbhawana Party’s Chairman Mahendra Yadav and Tarai Madhes Democratic Party’s lawmaker Jagilal Yadav among others were present in the programme on Sunday.
