Nepali comedy duo, Madan Krishna Shrestha and Hari Bansha Acharya, also referred to as the Maha Jodi, are currently on tour, performing around different cities in the USA. The tour that started from San Francisco on September 20 is titled Maha Jatra America.

Shrestha and Acharya are accompanied by other popular artists like Kiran KC, Basundhara Bhushal, Shivahari Poudel, Mohit Acharya and Yaman Shrestha. Rabi Lamichhane is hosting the performances.

Maha Jodi’s US tour comes in the heels of their recent performances in Nepal, England and Australia. Their satirical programmes, based on the socio-political crises Nepal is facing, are a huge attraction among Nepalis residing abroad.

After successful shows in the south and the southwest the troupe is now heading to the East Coast.Maha Jodi has already performed in Los Angeles, Denver, Salt Lake City and Austin, and now, they will be performing in Oklohama, Minnesota and New York, among others. According to the organisers (there are different organisers for different cities), the money raised from the shows will be used to help build temples and promote Nepali culture in the US.In a video released by the jodi, they have stated that they’re on a tour with “the message of national unity” on their minds.
