The death toll in the chimney explosion has reached eight by Tuesday morning. A burning chimney of the New Jaya Nepal brick kiln was collapsed at Itahari Sub-Metropolis-16 on Monday evening. The person, who breathed his last on early Tuesday morning, has been identified as Mustafa Alam Miya. He was declared dead at the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan. Earlier, the deceased were confirmed as Garibalal Paswan, 50, Mithilesh Paswan, 35, Salun Miya, 16, Sagdam Hussain, 15, and 12-year-old Rahul from neighboring Bihar state of India and Galadidevi Chaudhary, 60 and Shiva Narayan Chaudhary of Itaharii. It is suspected that the death toll would increase as most of the injured are reported as critical in condition. Two dozen injured persons are admitted at various hospitals in Itahari. The police involved in the rescue operation have said that they have rescued all the trapped workers from the exploded chimney.
